Who We Are
Guardian and Protective Services, Inc. (GaPS), is a private, non-profit organization founded to assist vulnerable adults, in need of protective arrangements, who have limited family support or no family members or friends to assist them. Our services are often enlisted to help prevent abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation.
What We Do
Guardian and Protective Services, Inc. (GaPS) serves elderly or disabled adults who have limited family support, no family members, or no capable friends living nearby. We provide protective arrangements such as Attorney in Fact, Healthcare Agent, Social Security Representative Payee and VA Fiduciary. Additionally, we are appointed, by The District Court, as Guardian or Conservator, when it is determined that other alternative arrangements are no longer suitable for the individual’s situation. When providing these services, we connect our clients to community partners; apply for needed services, appropriate housing options, and public benefit programs such as Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), housing, & fuel assistance; monitor our clients’ health and well-being through consistent visits, attendance at medical appointments & care conferences, & by making beneficial medical decisions; & address financial crisis situations through establishing budgets that meet their basic needs & sometimes may prevent financial exploitation by monitoring/managing their funds & settling their debts. We work to find our clients a safe living environment where they can be as active as they wish, within their capabilities, and have the highest quality of living possible in the least restrictive environment.
