CaringEdge Hospice

Who We Are

Volunteering with CaringEdge hospice is an opportunity to enrich your life while touching the lives of others. Our primary focus is to bring care, comfort, and compassion to patients and their families during their time of need.

What We Do

Are you compassionate, dependable, and looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community? Join our team of amazing hospice volunteers to provide comfort and companionship to individuals facing end of life.

Volunteer areas we are currently looking for:

  1. Companionship.  Spend time with patients by sharing interests, reading, listening to music, and being present so they’re not alone. Minimum of 30 minutes either weekly or 2-3 visits per month.
  2. Respite Visit.  Provide a supportive service that allows family members/caregivers time to run errands, attend appointments, or simply take a short break. This service is scheduled ahead of time and typically lasts 1-4 hours.
  3. Vigil.  During late and difficult hours, our volunteers will provide comfort, a peaceful presence, and emotional support during a patient’s final moments. Volunteers sit at the bedside offering comforting words, read scripture, and hold the patient’s hand, if appropriate and welcomed.
  4. Sewing Memory Bears. Create a lasting gift for grieving families from an article of our patient’s clothing.
  5. Bereavement support. Assist hospice chaplain with clerical duties and monthly bereavement support group meetings.
  6. Continuing the Legacy. Interview patients and record their memories, experiences, and wisdom. This isn’t just volunteering; it’s creating a lasting legacy, a tangible piece of someone’s life to be cherished by their loved ones for a lifetime.

We understand that everyone has different availability. Volunteer visits are scheduled based on patient needs and your personal availability, so whether you can give a few hours a week or a couple times a month, your time makes a difference.

No medical experience needed. We provide thorough training and ongoing support. Volunteers must be 18 or older.

Your presence can bring peace to someone during their final days. Become part of something profoundly meaningful.
