The Northern Lights Council, Boy Scouts of America, provides a time-tested, comprehensive youth development program that emphasizes personal growth, self-reliance, positive decision-making, and respect for others and the environment. The Northern Lights Council extracts quality volunteer mentors in communities throughout its territory and trains them in youth development and Scouting principles. The Northern Lights Council was incorporated in 1974 because of a merger of four Boy Scout Councils in North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota. The Northern Lights Council, Boy Scouts of America is chartered by the National Council, Boy Scouts of America to administer programs of the Boys Scouts of America.
The Northern Lights Council, Boy Scouts of America is a United Way Agency and serves more than 10,000 youth across the State of North Dakota, 18 counties in northwestern Minnesota and 2 counties each in South Dakota and Montana.
