Missouri Slope Areawide United Way will host a “Walk a Mile in My Shoes” event, starting at United Way’s Emergency Homeless Shelter (1140 S. 12th St.)
On Wednesday, November 15, 2023, we invite the community, our shelter guests, and staff to walk a mile and back from the United Way Homeless Shelter. This is a unique opportunity for community members to connect with our homeless population and understand what they may be going through. This is a great experience and a true way to show our community cares about the struggles and hardships on the streets.
The walk will begin at the United Way Emergency Homeless Shelter, where we will all walk together to the Dream Center (a common stop for shelter residents), then back to the shelter.
At the end of our walk, we invite you to enjoy a free meal, learn about our shelter and the new Center For Opportunity, and talk with shelter residents.
